obesity image It is getting to be very obvious that we need to do something about the health of America. We consistently rank near the bottom of industrialized nations in terms of overall health. And the average American’s life expectancy has recently gone down for the first time in decades. We lead the world in obesity rates and chronic disease......Click here to read the full article
sweet and low It’s a simple concept, if you take in less calories than you burn everyday, you will lose weight. headache
January 2008 Newsletter

It’s a common theme, people get a headache and turn to over- the- counter (OTC) drugs for some relief. Treating a headache occasionally with OTC drugs like aspirin or other pain drugs won’t do much harm. However using these types of drugs repeatedly on a regular basis can often have serious or deadly side effects. In fact non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as naproxen or aspirin cause 16,500 deaths every single year in the United States according to the FDA.

Sciatica
A major study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, found that for back pain with radiating pain from lumbar disc herniation, patients recover almost equally well with or without surgery.
Carpal tunnel According to some reports nearly 8 million people suffer from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS) in America. In 2002 the U.S. Dept. of Labor reported that repetitive motion injuries were the leading cause of missed work with an average of 23 days missed. CTS is one of the most common repetitive work injuries, often caused by things like typing.
sprained ankle Ankle sprains are on of the most prevalent acute injuries treated in emergency departments and physicians’ office, accounting for up to 10% of sports-related injuries. The ankle sprain is probably the single most common injury in sports and represents 20 to 25% of time lost because of injury in running and jumping sports.
George W. Bush
Since 2008 is going to see our billboards, newspapers, internet, and TV’s smothered in political ads. I thought I’d leave you with a few political quotes. Some are so true its almost funny.

mother and child In my April 2007 article "One Less?" I gave you some info on the New Gardasil vaccine that the commercials don’t seem to be giving people. I hope most of you read it, and thought about it, as everyone has daughters or granddaughters that could potentially be affected by this vaccine.
Pregnancy
According to a study at Spine Universe, almost 80% of pregnant women experience some type of back pain. A 1991 study in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics, said that 84% of women who received chiropractic care experienced a decrease in back pain during their pregnancy.
child learning
A recent study, published in the Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research (JVSR)Article Date: 20 Jan 2007, suggests that chiropractic care may offer significant benefits to children suffering from learning disabilities and dyslexia.
Blood pressure check

(WebMD) March 16, 2007 -- A special chiropractic adjustment can significantly lower high blood pressure, a placebo-controlled study suggests Bakris, director of the University of Chicago hypertension center.

x-ray of neck
Recently I just read thru a few interesting studies regarding chiropractic care and whiplash injuries. Whiplash is defined as an injury to the cervical spine caused by an abrupt jerking motion of the head, backward or forward, often occurring from rear on-set automobile accidents and amusement park rides.
